Course Outline
Completing the Course
We expect our students to complete the course, in its entirety, within two business weeks. After three weeks, student access to the portal may be discontinued.
Below, we have provided some information about what students can expect and how it will affect their schedules:
Total Time Commitment
Total instruction time amounts to approximately 16 hours, which is spread over 4 sets of lessons (Parts 1-4) and a 5th lesson to help students prepare for the final examination. The overall time commitment may vary from student to student, but runs about 20 hours, on average.
There are no live lectures. All content is self-paced and on-demand to maximize the convenience of the program for our students, many of whom are in the process of training-to-competency within their individual laboratories.
Time Budgeting and Planning
We encourage students to plan for 16 hours of facilitated learning during the first week. During the second week, students can expect 2-3 hours of review followed by 90 minutes to complete the final examination.
The entire program is self-paced, including the final examination; however, we expect students to complete the entire program within two business weeks. After three weeks, we reserve the right to discontinue student access to our portal if there is no activity. There are no refunds once access is discontinued.
Preparing for the School
Students will receive instructions by email following their initial registration and check-in. There are no other special preparations that students must execute in advance of the school.
Preparing for the Final Examination
We recommend that students spend approximately 2-3 hours in preparation for the final exam, which can be taken at any time. Most students complete their coursework during week 1, then focus on preparing for and completing the final exam by the end of week 2. A third week should only be necessary in the event of illness or a major disruption to a student's schedule.
Proctored Examinations
Some laboratories elect to certify that their examinations were proctored by a supervisor. To have an examination certified as being proctored, the exam must be proctored by a supervisor or training officer of the student's laboratory. Proctors will be asked to complete an online Proctor Certification Form to confirm that the final examination was taken without the assistance of other individuals or supporting materials, and that it was completed within 90 minutes.
